Nikon d7000 review
When it was announced in September the D7000 Nikon took a lot of people by surprise. Although a D90 successor had been on the horizon for some time, what wasn't expected was how close in specification terms the new camera would turn out to be to the D300S. In some respects, in fact, the Nikon D7000 review actually outguns its (supposedly) semi-pro cousin, and offers a compelling upgrade option to both D90 and D300S owners, whilst nominally sitting between the two in Nikon's current lineup.

The 3D Color Matrix Metering II tends to overexpose minor parts of the image (e.g. sky or bright back-lights) if detected faces near the image center are darker (e.g. in shadow) than these minor parts. This feature is sometimes surprising due to reliable scene
recognition and face detection (including side-view of faces) of the new high-resolution sensor, even if there are "only" strangers (in the dark) near the image center. Nikon D7000 review
If not wanted it can be changed with exposure compensation, two point (average) metering, metering on the bright lights or use of center-weighted or spot metering, fill flash or RAW images. Increasing the dynamic range by use of Active D-Lighting or reducing the contrast settings (the default contrast is higher compared to previous Nikon DSLRs) aids when shooting JPEGs. After taken the image, contrast and brightness can easily changed even in camera. This feature concerns only when photographing people, other scenes like landscapes, architecture, etc. are not affected.
